The SHARE Project

SHARE is a partnership of eight European agencies representing a wide range of types of social housing in new and old member states, rural and urban, north and south.

SHARE project partners in Energy Efficiency Consortium meeting with the Mayor of Cheltenham

The overall project objectives are to increase sustainability of energy use; minimise associated carbon emissions; lower the incidence of uncomfortable temperatures; and reduce unaffordable fuel bills in social housing.

These objectives are being addressed by:-

  • raising awareness amongst relevant actors of the social, environmental and economic benefits for residents and landlords, from energy efficiency and renewable energy measures.

  • increasing sustainable energy in retrofitting, refurbishment and planned maintenance.

  • achieving behavioural change by occupiers of social housing.

  • maximizing financial and technical resources available for improvement measures .

  • promoting good practice examples in the social housing context, indicating what is technically and economically possible.

  • enabling exchange of knowledge and experience across Europe, as member states tackle many similar problems.
